One story in this book:

The Wise Queen

Once upon a time, there was a king who chose as his wife a very wise woman. He appreciated her wisdom but nonetheless had ordered her to keep out of his business. One day the shepherd came before the queen with tears in his eyes. He told her the king wanted to teach him a lesson and had asked him to take the sheep to the market, get money for them, and return with them to the palace.

“Take the sheep to be shorn and then return with them and with the money for their wool,” the queen advised him.

The king got angry with his wife for interfering with his business and banished her from the palace.

“My lord, please let us have dinner together one last time and let me take away from the palace the one thing I hold most dear and precious,” asked the queen.

The king accepted. The queen puts some sleeping herbs into his food and the king fell into a deep sleep. When he woke up in the morning, he realized he was in his wife’s home and he was very surprised.

“I took from the palace the one thing I hold most dear and precious – you!” said the wise queen.

Upon hearing these words, the king forgave her and they returned to the palace together. And they lived happily ever after.
